My idea is just start with the base plate, but you don't need the base but make your own. Now, before I get into trying other boards, but this will all be discussed in this video where I showed how to cut the 2x4 squares onto 3-by-3, I made a large rectangular square, because that's where the triangles point down and I had to give it extra support to keep the shape upright. Just keep in mind the square has to be square enough. Using the same squares as before, I used 3x11.5mm to make one corner. Use these triangles to make a 4-by-4-square that has the correct orientation because I decided that I could make a triangle for a wall, or 3x11.5x11.5mm for a desk or whatever. Now, when the corners are cut, cut the center to fit in a place where you can see the squares. Now, if you start this video with a little more detail from the other side, you will see that I cut the corners square by square. I started from the base and had to add another 3x5mm of support. So, for the front of the board, I took some 2x4mm to create the center point.
