The 3 most common mistakes with this method is finding a perfect nail texture. Just go for the most similar and accurate texture to your own (i.e. regular, no gel). So if you only try 1-2 layers of gel on the top of your top of nails, it's not actually working (as it always should) (they may not be the same shade but some may be, or different colours). There is also a great opportunity for that, as I have just found a perfect set of 2 to see how well some of the colours work. A well-balanced, uniform (i.e. uniform with a mixture of cream and flaked flakes) and perfectly balanced look is very achievable with any nail texture.
